Columbia County Garden Clubs' County Day at Winding Brook County Club, 11:00 am - 2:30 pm
A luncheon and program by floral designer. Reservations and menu selection for can be made with Claverack club treasurer Louise Bliss by May 22. The cost is $27, payable by check to Claverack Garden Club.

The December 2011 World Gardening, Water for Sudan, collection was $145.
Claverack Garden Club Press Book Chairman Marge Chippari (L) and President Patricia Sama display the award certificates received at the District III spring meeting at Birch Hill in Schodack on Thursday, April 19. From Federated Garden Clubs of New York State the Claverack Club received third place for their press book in the small clubs category. Columbia County Garden Clubs, in the group of clubs category, received first place. The press books, compiled by Mrs. Chippari, contain all printed publicity, in chronological order, for 2011. The books, submitted in January for judging, serve as an historical record of events of the year.

The table top greenhouse on the left was constructed by Mr. Sama of PVC pipe, a special electric heating pad, suspended sun lights and covered by painters' plastic drop cloth. The eggplant, started around March first, are about 3 inches high. He will start tomatoes soon. Each member received a hand out listing the materials.

Dutch Reformed Church, C.E. Building on 9-H in Claverack, 1 PM, second Thursday of the month; otherwise as noted. Guests are welcome at all meetings and events. Meeting times and places may change so please call for information:

Membership and Dues:
Membership is open to all who wish to stimulate the love and knowledge of gardening, aid in the protection of beauty and natural resources of the community, and encourage civic planting in our environs. You do not have to be a gardener; only love flowers and a beautiful environment. Annual Dues are $20.
The Claverack Garden Club is a member of The Garden clubs of Columbia County, Third District of Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, Inc., The Nature Conservancy, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia County, and National Garden Clubs, Inc.
